The Centre for Technology Transfer and Skills Development (CTTSD) and the K-Innovation Hub at Kumasi Technical University proudly celebrate the remarkable achievement of Mr. Salifu Iddrisu, an Electrical and Electronics Engineering student, who has been honoured as the Student Scientist / Innovator of the Year at the Ghana Tertiary Awards 2025.

This highly competitive national award places Salifu among Ghana’s most outstanding young innovators. Selected from thousands of students across more than 340 tertiary institutions, he distinguished himself through his exceptional contributions to robotics, artificial intelligence, renewable energy technologies, and STEM-driven innovation.

Salifu’s work reflects a keen ability to identify real-world challenges and engineer practical, technology-driven solutions. His impressive innovation portfolio includes:

  • Air Quality Monitoring Systems – low-cost solutions for real-time environmental assessment

  • Firefighting and Rescue Robots – robotics innovations designed to support emergency responders

  • AI-Powered Solar Irrigation Systems – intelligent technologies integrating renewable energy and precision agriculture

  • Hydroponics Farming Innovations – soil-less agriculture systems enhancing food security
