On April 14th, 2025, the K-Innovation Hub, a technopreneurship makerspace at Kumasi Technical University (KsTU), held its grand opening and mini-expo at the quadrangle of the Old Library. The event marked a significant milestone in the university’s pursuit of innovation-driven development.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Gabriel Dwomoh, graced the occasion alongside key officers of the university, faculty members, and students. Attendees had the opportunity to tour the exhibition area, where various practical and innovative projects developed by the hub were showcased.
Following the inspection of the exhibits, the Vice Chancellor officially inaugurated the K-Innovation Hub with a ceremonial sod-cutting. In his address, Prof. Dwomoh commended the Head of the Hub and his team for their dedication in bringing the vision of the hub to life. He praised their efforts in fostering innovation and practical problem-solving that benefit both the university and the nation.
He further encouraged the team to push the boundaries of innovation and strive to develop technological solutions that align with Ghana’s national development agenda—and, where possible, address global challenges.
Since its inception two years ago, the K-Innovation Hub has distinguished itself as a center for creativity, practical problem-solving, and applied research. The hub has already earned four prestigious awards, including:
3rd Place – Best Innovative Student Project at the 2nd Annual Applied Research Conference organized by the Vice-Chancellors of Technical Universities of Ghana.
1st Place – WinEAffair 2023, organized by WinE GhIE at KNUST, Kumasi.
1st Place – WinEAffair 2024, organized by WinE GhIE at the University of Ghana, Legon, Accra.
2nd Place and Most Impactful Project – ACity Expo 2025, organized by Academic City University College, Accra.
These accolades underscore the hub’s growing impact and its commitment to driving innovation that resonates at both national and international levels.
