Also, an assessment of the potential for resource retrieval from solid waste at Kumasi Technical University was conducted. The motive was to develop a sustainable solid waste management plan for KsTU. At the end of the first cycle of the study it was concluded that individual sanitary workers retrieve and sell especially plastics from the discarded waste. Meanwhile, the university has no support system to encourage such retrieval actions. The sanitary workers strongly believe that students will be uncompliant with any solid waste separation system. The second of the study will seek to build consensus and community participation in the development of a sustainable solid waste management plan for the university.
The center was a contributor to the report on assessment of human rights violations and student-staff relationship at Kumasi Technical University.
